The Wearable Breastpump Showdown

As a busy mum, finding the right breast pump can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. With so many options on the market, I set out to test three wearable breast pumps: the Pippeta Wearable Pump, the MAM Wearable Pump, and the Mom Cozy M5. Let the showdown for the best wearable breastpump begin...

As I scoured the internet looking for the perfect pump, I felt as though I was lost in an Amazon rainforest.

One thing I knew was that I wanted a wearable one. I didn’t want to do it by hand, and I didn’t want one with bottles hanging off the end—something about that just gave me milking cow vibes.

Not to mention the fact that I have two other children, so I don’t have time to sit around expressing milk all day, so I wanted something that would give me some freedom.

After putting them through their paces, here’s how they stack up—because every mum deserves a pump that suits her lifestyle, budget, and needs.

The Contenders
  • Momcozy M5 – High-tech features and great portability, but a bit fiddly to use.

  • MAM Wearable Pump – Sleek design and powerful suction, but at a premium price point.

  • Pippeta Wearable Pump – Compact, budget-friendly, and reliable—perfect for mums on a budget

    Mom Cozy M5

The Mom Cosy M5 strikes a balance between portability and power with a modern design

but my experience highlighted a few concerns that might affect its long-term usability.

Now lets talk pros and cons of each pump.

    Pros:

    • Portability: Lightweight and compact, making it convenient for mums who pump on the go and it comes with a cool carrier included.

    • Features: Includes advanced options like app integration for tracking sessions and settings customisation. (I never used the app, so I can't say much about it).

    • Noise Level: It has been hailed as one of the quietest breast pumps on the market, although I must say I never found it to be quieter than the Pipetta pump or the MAM pump.

    • On screen timer: This was my favourite thing about the pump and something I wish the other two had.

    Cons:

    • Durability: Unfortunately, this pump broke easily. I had to request two replacements during my time using it, and then on the third occasion, they just gave me a full refund.

This was a major drawback for me. Thankfully, I had the double pump, so when one broke, I still had the other. Had someone only had one, it would have been a huge inconvenience to be left with nothing.

Perhaps I just had an unfortunate experience with this brand as I see other users who love all things Momcozy. However, I must say their customer service is excellent so there's that.

    • Setup: It requires a bit more effort to assemble than the others as I found it quite prone to leaks so you must make sure it is all put together perfectly.

My Rating: 3/5 (which I do feel is quite harsh because the pump had good suction when it worked, it's just my personal experience wasn't the best)

MAM Wearable Pump

The MAM Wearable Pump is a premium option for mums who pump regularly. It offers thoughtful design features and excellent performance.

Pros:

  • Performance: Strong suction with customisable settings for optimal milk extraction.

  • Comfort: Designed with mum’s comfort in mind, featuring soft materials.

  • Convenience: The screw-top milk collector can be stored directly in the fridge, making it easy to transition from pumping to storing.

  • Stable Design: The milk collector’s flat bottom prevents it from rolling off surfaces like the others—this is a lifesaver! Because let's face it, to even lose 5ml of liquid gold is devastating - there is no need to fret over spilt milk here.

  • Extra Quiet Mode: A dedicated quiet mode makes it even more discreet, perfect for nighttime or shared spaces. However, when on quiet mode, I found the suction significantly lower

Cons:

  • Price: Comes at a premium, which may not suit all budgets. Unless you find this on sale it is more than double the price of the Pipetta wearable pump.

  • Bulkiness:  I found this pump significantly larger and less discreet than the Momcozy or the Pipetta

  • Battery Life: While the battery lasts approximately two hours, depending on the mode and intensity level, I found it quite slow at charging- it takes about one and a half hours to fully charge.

My Rating 4.8/5

Pippeta Wearable Pump

The Pippeta Wearable Pump stands out for its simplicity and affordability, making it a strong contender for mums looking for a no-fuss, budget-friendly option. I will add that Pipetta gifted me this pump, but that in no way has influenced my review, and they never gifted it with any guarantee of a positive review.

They have, however, given me a 10% discount code to share with you all 'ZIMAMASWORLD10' (which will be valid after their black Friday sale)

  • Best Compatibility:  Of the three pumps I tested, the Pippeta was the most versatile and compatible with various bra types. It fits easily and securely, making it a convenient choice for mums on the go.

  • Value for Money: Its affordable price point makes it a fantastic option for mums who don’t want to splurge but still want a reliable pump.

  • Ease of Use: Its simple design with minimal parts makes it easy to assemble, use, and clean. I love how the box has a QR code to scan that takes you directly to a video with setup instructions because I hate reading user manuals.

  • Lightweight and Compact: The pump’s small size and portability mean you can use it discreetly under clothing—I literally wore it under my jacket to drop the kids off at school.

  • British Brand: I just feel the fact this pump is designed and developed in the UK has to be classed as a pro, so I'm going to include that

Cons:

  • Suction Power: While effective for light or occasional use, its suction isn’t quite as strong as the higher-end models.

    My Rating: 4.2/5

Final Thoughts

Each of these pumps offers something unique, and the right choice depends on your personal needs and priorities, but here is my 'top pick' and 'best value' option.

Top Pick

If performance, convenience, and premium features are your top priorities, the MAM Wearable Pump will simplify your life. With strong suction, a thoughtful design (like its flat-bottom milk collector and fridge-friendly compatibility), and an extra quiet mode, it’s perfect for regular pumpers who don’t mind a higher price tag this is the pump for you.

Best Value for Money

For mums looking for an affordable, reliable option, the Pippeta Wearable Pump is a fantastic choice. As the most budget-friendly of the three, it doesn’t compromise compatibility, ease of use, or practicality. Plus, being a British brand is a bonus for mums in the UK who value more local products.

Ultimately, the best pump is the one that fits your lifestyle, budget, and specific needs. Whether you’re a regular pumper, or are looking for the best value for money, there’s a pump here for every mum.
